Perhaps you would want to examine how international intervention (specifically from Europe?) exacerbates or minimizes clashes between Israelis and Palestinians. Also, its important to recognize that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is not purely about religion - there are economic, political, and social factors that also contribute to the ongoing instability.
You could possibly describe the historic conflict between Judaism and Islam instead of calling it a historic conflict.
