  1. How Internet Browser Roles Are Changing
    http://www.npr.org/2012/08/07/158286715/how-internet-browser-roles-are-changing

Internet browsers, such as Google Chrome and Internet Explorer, roles' are changing. The role of an Internet browser is evolving. Richard Jaroslovsky, a technology columnist for Bloomberg, explains the purpose of an Internet browser:"Originally, the browser was a vehicle to get to some place on the Web. But increasingly, the browser has become a destination itself. You execute programs now in the browser; you can create documents in the browser, so its very role is changing." Therefore, the article expands and continues the ideas published in "The World is Flat". For example, Friedman explains how the invention of the Internet browser and creation of Netscape flattens the world by allowing easy navigation of the Internet. The article explains how Internet browsers are developing into workstations where documents and presentations are shared effortlessly. This further augments the spread of ideas, knowledge, and communication which results in a flatter world.

  2. ESPN to broadcast African Cup of Nations in US on Internet
    http://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/dcunited/espn-to-broadcast-african-cup-of-nations-in-us-on-internet/2013/01/18/06166fb2-61e0-11e2-81ef-a2249c1e5b3d_story.html

This article briefly explains that ESPN will be showing the African Nations Cup more on the internet than on any other media. ESPN will provide delayed coverage of the semifinals on February 6 and the final. The fact that more coverage will be broadcast on the internet rather than being televised supports Friedman's idea that the internet has evolved. Instead of the internet being a place for 'early adopters and geeks' as a means for communication, now accessible those of all ages and backgrounds. Today, people are able to not only to computations but they can watch the soccer games happening on another continent.

  3. Back to the Future: The Netscape and Google I.P.O's
    http://bits.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/05/17/back-to-the-future-the-netscape-and-google-i-p-o-s/

Entrepreneurs and venture capitalists have made money on technology before Netscape sold it's shares. Netscape developed the idea that one could cash out before he/she built a business. This idea fueled the dotcom boom. When netscape sold their stock, it was up to $58 on the first day, and the market value was almost $3 billion. Netscape was bought by AOL in 1999, but its legend lasted much longer. On the other hand Google's I.P.O. (initial public offering) was $85, and a value of $23 billion. Netscape faded while Google rose to face the future. This article relates to Friedman's second flattener because is expands on the information given in "The World is Flat." For example, both the article and the book talked about how netscape lead the way for the dotcom boom. Friedman mentions a lot of the same key concepts that David Streitfeld, the author of this article stated.

  4. Mark Zuckerberg News
    http://topics.nytimes.com/topics/reference/timestopics/people/z/mark_e_zuckerberg/index.html

In this article they talk about the multi-billion dollar company Facebook. The article describes how much and how Facebook makes its money. Facebook was created by Mark Zuckerberg in his dorm room in 2004. It is a way for people to meet and see different people. In the second flattner Friedmen talks about how the internet is becoming easier to use and how the internet is being used for more than just finding out information. This article agrees with what Freidman was saying because it is a great example about how the internet is not just used to find and exchange information. The article is also a great example of how the internet is used for supporting existing businesses and creating new ones such as Facebook. The internet today is used to socialize with people and find out personal information. The internet also is being used to conduct business such as selling services, products, and advertisement.

  5. Mixed Response to Comcast in Expanding Net Accesshttp://www.nytimes.com/2013/01/21/business/media/comcast-internet-essentials-brings-access-to-low-income-homes.html?ref=technology
The network Comcast came out with the plan of giving their customers internet essentials to provide internet access to the poor. However, some communities think that they are over stepping the boundaries in their attempt to give internet to the poor saying that there is too much interaction. This relates to flattener 2 because flattener 2 is all about the Internets first breakthrough. It is also about making the internet accessible to everyone.
